Calculator for Frame Relay

This calculator is used to calculate the StepCountConst configuration parameter of CPX.

Choose value from pull-down selectors or just type in the field.

Terminology

StepCountConst

This value depends on the Frame Relay line parameters AR, CIR, Bc, Be, EETD and FSize. It expresses the maximum number of frames present on the path from the local user to the remote user and vice versa at the same moment.

AR (Access Rate)

Port related parameter.
Expressed in bits per second.

CIR (Committed Information Rate)

DLCI related parameter.
Expressed in bits per second.

Bc (Committed Burst Size)

DLCI related parameter.
Expressed in bits (per Tc).

Be (Excess Burst Size)

DLCI related parameter.
Expressed in bits (per Tc).

Tc (Measurement interval)

Time interval calculated as Bc/CIR.
Expressed in seconds.

EETD (End to End Transit Delay)

Time interval that starts when the first bit of transmitted frame crosses the local interface, and ends when the last bit of the same frame crosses the remote interface. This value depends on the frame size.
Expressed in milliseconds.

FSize (Frame Size)

The size of the longest frame expected to send on this DLCI.
Expressed in bytes.
